Alleppey beach general information

Alleppey is attractive for its boat races, allappuzha backwaters and alleppey coir industry, Alappuzha, the Venice of the East is also very attractive for its beautiful beaches. Among them, Alappuzha beach boating is a popular spot for tourists. A important destination for world travelers, it is located on a thin strip of land, lies between the Arabian Sea in the west and the and the Punnamada backwaters in the east. Alappuzha beach is also known as Alleppey beach.

Tourist can enjoy the mesmerizing beauty of sunrise and sunset. With its fine white sand and freshwater lakes and few cottages in its vicinity, the allappuzha beach is a perfect place for pleasurable aleppey beach holidays.

About 2km from Alappuzha railway station, this beach has open air stage where cultural events are conducted and a walkway road lined with plants and seating arrangements for world tourist to sit and view the sea breeze. The alleppey beach houses a 1,000-ft long ancient bridge locally called as Kadal Palam about137 years old. Built in 1862 by Captain Hugh Crawford, this was used for loading materials onto the ships when trading thrived decades ago. Now in a bad condition, nobody is not allowed to enter the alleppey sea bridge.

Near to this alleppey beach, there are ruined Remains of old godowns, a temple facing the beach, Bishop's house, Indian coffee house and St Xaviers Chapel at alleppey beach.
